Over the years, we the students of KCG College of Technology, Chennai have been hosting The Hindustan Young Leaders Conference which is an academic simulation of The United Nations that gives youngsters a platform to enhance their knowledge and deliberate upon global issues. At HYLC, we are determined to foster an environment which would enable delegates to reflect upon the complexities of geopolitics and international relations that shape the dynamics of the world and provide an insight to the bureaucratic functioning of the various organizations under the United Nations. We intend to make this an enriching experience for delegates by simulating a practical environment that would encourage student leadership and learning, promote cultural diversity, impel them to research, hone their use of diplomatic skills to negotiate, persuade and above all empower them to become effective leaders of the global community.
What is a MUN?
A MUN or a Model United Nations is an academic simulation which provides students with the opportunity to debate about the biggest challenges facing world leaders. Model UN also enables participants enhance their knowledge and understanding of international affairs and build their abilities in speaking and negotiation. Research in preparation for a Model UN conference hones students’ analytical skills, and by converting that research into resolutions, students also develop their conflict resolution skills.

Eassa Salim is a final year Electronics and Communications Engineering student at KCG College of Technology. Having forayed into MUNs initially to save himself from the rigours of boring engineering classes, Eassa quickly developed a taste for the concept and what it had to offer and he would go on to realize his potential, making his mark on humanitarian themed committees by successfully representing countries with hard-line stances. He has a dislike for stereotypes and clichés and that shows in his choice of committees as well, as he's participated and won a wide range of them.
A final year electronics and communication engineering student, he is also second in line to get the most on duty permissions from the college (guess who the first is? You are right). From reminding others of his influence to recently meeting Dhoni, he is everything close to his namesake (read mama) except betting. A man of class, Srini is known for his unparallelled analysis of policy and research and his intolerance to incompetence.MUNs apart, Srini spends half his day playing and trying to be the God of War and the other half by actually being the God of Medicines. It is our privilege and esteemed duty to pass the baton of responsibility to the best man that can ever be the Deputy to the Secretary General.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Mr. Srini Vasan!

Im Jonadab Theodore and I’m 19 years old and I’m doing my third year Electronics and Communications Engineering at KCG College of Technology. Ive attended about 15 MUNs in my whole life and all of them have been military committees or crisis committees such as the SC or ESS. Ive always held the United Nations in high regard even though ive learnt in my short experience that they never really have an enormous impact on the more immediate and demanding situations but it still has its relevance and should be given its utmost reverence.I’m a brutally honest person and Im open to both praise and criticism. And I welcome all the delegates to this years Hindustan Young Leaders Conference and I sincerely hope that you have a memorable experience.
Manigandan N (Mani if you’re super-lazy) is currently pursuing Electronics and Communication Engineering from KCG college of technology. He started MUNning in his first year,to not be in class without the only guy he knew in college. He prefers unconventional committees and Security Councils. Apart from MUNs, his interests vary from coding to gaming, from movies to novels. He’s an ardent fan of Game Of Thrones and Suits judging by the way he worships Tyrion and Harvey. He can always be seen with headphones on listening to Arctic Monkeys or Imagine Dragons. His love life is like his Lamborghini, non-existent. He was a part of the delegate affairs team of HYLC-2018 and is proud to be a part of the team this year as well.
Jihaan Basheer is a third year Computer science engineering student at KCG College of Technology. The only time you'll ever see her shut up is when you've provided her with enough food. Making use of this talent, she spends her time participating in debates, extempore events and in anything they voluntarily would like to listen to her talk.HYLC is her hope to escape from the depths of despair otherwise known as engineering. She's been part of the HYLC family right from her first year and is looking forward to be part of the future edition(s) as well (A girl can dream) but for now is more than happy to be heading the Delegate Affairs team of HYLC 2019.
Great leader relish and seeks responsibility and accountability. He inspires confidence, win the hearts and minds of his team, and always brings out his best, whether on the warehouse floor or in the executive wing.
Introducing the director of hospitality, Ajay Alex Murikan. Ajay is a current 3rd year student pursuing a degree in Aeronautical Engineering(ironically afraid of flying). An avid Manchester United Fanboy who spends his time-off either watching or playing football(FIFA), and a timid personality who is often mistaken for a school kid. He participated in his first MUN as a desperate act to avoid class but now has the experience of over 10 MUNs, primarily in the UNHRC. A lone wolf by choice and a self-critic by fate.
