It gives me immense pleasure to know that you will be attending the HYLC Model United Nations 2015 on January 23rd,24th and 25th 2015.This is one of those times wherein the world in engaged in multiple issues which are a major concern for the future generations. Be it environmental protection, human rights violation, international security, unemployment or food security, the world has never been more threatened. The regional differences and a lack of consensus among the international community have further stimulated the issues to a large extent.
United Nations, from the very inception has been a catalyst of advocating change wherein hopes have been lost and efforts have failed. The very tool of diplomacy has facilitated enormous results in some of the extremely marginalized around the world. Children and Youth group makes up around 35% of the world population and has emerged as one of the most important stakeholder in solving the issues of global concern. The group has started realizing the opportunities and the need for their increased involvement. Also, it is extremely important that the efforts are in accordance with the international mandate and government policies. And for the same, the very concept of Model United Nations exists.
The 3 days of Model UN conference will expose you to a plethora of issues and will ensure that you develop as a responsible global youth. The 4 councils which are simulated at HYLC 2015 hold extreme importance and will surely give you immense exposure to the most prominent global issues and will help you realizing your role as a diplomat. It will push you to an extent and will involve you in the hard realities of the world. I wish each delegate a very good luck for the entire conference and hope that you will have the best learning experience throughout the conference.
